Your directing coach: Lech Majewski

The multi-talented Polish artist Lech Majewski will be coaching aspiring directors at this year's Rutger Hauer Filmfactory. Majewski is a poet and a painter, as well as a writer and director.

Working in the U.S., Brazil, England, Poland, Germany, Lithuania, France and Italy, Majewski uses diverse mediums, such as paintings, films, installations, novels, theatre and opera stagings. He studied at Academy of Fine Arts and graduated from the National Film School in Lodz. His films include; The Knight, Prisoner of Rio, Gospel According to Harry, Basquiat, Wojaczek, Angelus and The Garden of the Earthly Delights. He is a member of the Directors Guild of America and the European Film Academy.

His work has won many prestigious prizes. In 2006, the Museum of Modern Art in New York honoured him with an individual retrospective entitled "Lech Majewski: Conjuring the Moving Image". His latest work Blood of a Poet/Glass Lips took part in the 52nd Venice Biennale and his retrospective that originated at MoMA travelled to the Art Institute of Chicago, Portland Art Museum, Cleveland Institute of Art, Berkeley Art Museum and the National Gallery in Washington DC.
