Rutger Hauer to receive Career Achievement Award(Thursday, March 31st 2011) At this year's Imagine Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival Rutger Hauer will receive the festival's prestigious Career Achievement Award. Previous recepients have been Tim Burton, Terry Gilliam, Paul Verhoeven, Dario Argento and Wes Craven. At Imagine’s opening night, April 23, Rutger Hauer will also attend the Dutch premiere of his latest film Hobo with a Shotgun. Starting with his powerful performance in 1982’s Blade Runner, he has contributed to many a genre classic. Among them: The Hitcher, Sin City and Batman Begins. According to the festival, his involvement in Hobo with a Shotgu proves his ongoing supportiveness of daring young filmmakers, while the cult success of the film also shows he still has a keen eye for the right project at the right time. In Rutger Hauer the festival honors an unfaltering icon of fantastic cinema, and a versatile and fearless actor. |
