"And the first new participant is..."(Wednesday, October 7th 2009) Polish director Dorota Zglobicka, who participated in this year's Rutger Hauer Filmfactory won the Best Smart Short Film Award at the I've Seen Films-festival of Milano. Her short, Be Smarter, was produced earlier this year in Rotterdam as part of the programme. The main prize of the festival is the 20th Century Fox H.E. Award which goes to the Best Short Film. The jury, amongst whom are industry figures and visionaries such as Ridley Scott, Robert Rodriguez, Lech Majewski, Miranda Richardson, Paul Verhoeven, Anton Corbijn and Christopher Nolan, chose Flax by Bard Ivar Engelsas (Norway) as the winner. Engelsas won not only the prestigious award, but also a free admission to the next Rutger Hauer Filmfactory Masterclass, with all expenses covered. |
